Verdonk wil in Nederland verplichten dat er op straat alleen Nederlands gesproken wordt en daar wordt serieus over gediscussieerd.
Natuurlijk is het allemaal niet haalbaar. Hoeveel mensen spreken er alleen Fries of een volstrekt onverstaanbaar Limburgs dialect? Gaan we Engels ook verbieden? Dan kunnen we meteen allerlei mensen die hier in Nederland wonen en werken het land uitzetten. Dat is goed voor de economische aantrekkelijkheid voor internationale bedrijven die Brinkhorst zo belangrijk vindt. Toeristen? Aan de grens een taaltest afnemen. Of nee, beter nog: via de telefoon een test afnemen met een computer die de grootste moeite heeft met een accent uitgesproken Nederlands te onderscheiden.
Zelfs ten tijde van de apartheid in Zuid-Afrika hebben ze nooit dergelijke regels ingesteld. Verdonk zet Nederland hiermee op de kaart als het meest xenofobe land ter wereld. Dat is vast heel goed voor onze economie, meneer Brinkhorst!
En toch wordt daar dan nog serieus over gesproken, in plaats van dat we Verdonk een jas met lange mouwen aantrekken en door twee mannen in witte jassen laten wegbrengen naar een rustige kamer met zachte wanden...
Net als de centrumpartij moeten we het eigenlijk doodzwijgen. Maar de media hollen er achter aan. Valt me nog mee dat ze niet naar Wilders' mening hebben gevraagd. Zoiets als dit is weer voor drie-vier dagen 'content'.
Naast het feit dat het een belachelijk idee is, vraag ik me af hoe je deze wet in hemelsnaam wil gaan handhaven in de praktijk.
